At UCC Security ("we", "us", "our"), we are committed to maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of your personal and operational information. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose information in the course of providing our security consultation, installation, monitoring, and drone analysis services.
We operate in compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of Alberta and, where applicable, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) of Canada.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal and business information necessary to provide our services safely and effectively. This includes:
Contact & Identity Information: Name, address, phone number, and email address (e.g., for quotes, billing, and emergency contacts).
Property Information: Site maps, security system layouts, access codes, and specific security vulnerabilities required to design your system.
Financial Information: Payment details required to process invoices (note: we do not store credit card details locally; they are processed via secure third-party providers).
Surveillance Data (CCTV): Video footage captured by systems we monitor on your behalf.
Drone Data: Aerial imagery, video, and multispectral sensor data collected during surveillance patrols or crop analysis flights.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
Service Delivery: To install security systems, conduct drone flights, and provide 24/7 monitoring.
Safety & Security: To respond to alarms, identify security breaches, and notify emergency responders.
Agricultural Analysis: To process multispectral data for crop health reports, yield estimation, and irrigation planning.
Communication: To send invoices, service updates, or important safety alerts.
4. Drone Operations & Privacy
UCC Security operates drones in strict accordance with Transport Canada regulations. We recognize that drones can raise unique privacy concerns, and we adhere to the following principles:
Targeted Collection: We only capture data within the boundaries of the Client’s property. We take reasonable precautions to avoid recording images of neighboring private properties or individuals not associated with the Client’s site.
Privacy by Design: Where possible, we utilize flight paths and camera angles that minimize the inadvertent capture of personal information (such as license plates or faces) of the general public.
Data Ownership:
Surveillance Data: All security footage belongs to the Client. We act as a data processor.
Agricultural Data: Raw crop data belongs to the Client. UCC Security retains the right to use aggregated, anonymized data (e.g., "average wheat yield in Edmonton area") to improve our algorithms, provided no specific farm or individual can be identified.
5. Disclosure of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose your information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers: To trusted third parties who assist us in operations (e.g., alarm monitoring stations, cloud storage providers), subject to strict confidentiality agreements.
Law Enforcement: When required by law (e.g., a warrant) or to report a crime witnessed during surveillance (e.g., trespassing or theft on your property).
Emergency: If we reasonably believe that disclosure is necessary to protect the life, health, or safety of an individual.
6. Security of Your Information
We implement industry-standard physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect your data, including:
Encrypted storage of digital surveillance logs.
Password-protected access to drone flight data.
Strict access controls for our employees—only authorized personnel have access to client data.
7. Retention of Data
Client Records: We retain client files for as long as you are a client and for a standard period thereafter for legal and tax purposes.
Surveillance Footage: Footage stored on local devices (NVRs/DVRs) is typically overwritten automatically on a loop (e.g., every 30 days) depending on your hardware storage capacity. Cloud-stored footage is retained according to your specific subscription plan.
8. Access and Correction
You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to request corrections if it is inaccurate.
CCTV/Drone Footage Access: Clients may request copies of specific footage managed by us. Please note that for privacy reasons, we may redact (blur) the faces of third parties (such as public bystanders) appearing in the footage before releasing it, unless required for legal proceedings.
